At Pine Rivers Rapids Baseball Club, we're more than just a sports club, we're a tight-knit community of baseball enthusiasts, families, and volunteers who come together to create something special in the area.
With over 200 active players across all age groups, our club thrives because of the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy, and passion to keep everything running smoothly.
Whether you're a baseball veteran or someone who's never held a bat, there's a place for you in our volunteer family. We believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute, and the skills you'll learn and friendships you'll make along the way are just as rewarding as the impact you'll have on our club.
Before we dive into the exciting volunteer opportunities available, there's one important requirement that applies to everyone who wants to help out at Pine Rivers Rapids – you'll need a Blue Card. This is Queensland's Working with Children Check, and it's mandatory for anyone working with or around children in a volunteer capacity.
Don't worry if you don't have one yet – the application process is straightforward and can be completed online at https://my.bluecard.qld.gov.au/login. The Blue Card is free for volunteers and typically takes a few weeks to process, so we recommend getting this sorted early if you're keen to get involved.
Passionate about supporting our players? Team officials are the heart of every Rapids season — helping our players grow, stay organised, and enjoy their time on the diamond.
Roles Available: We’re looking for Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Managers, and Scorers across all age groups. Whether you’re leading drills, helping organise game day, or keeping the scorebook accurate, every role is essential to a smooth and enjoyable season.
What’s Involved:
Coaches & Assistant Coaches: Run training sessions, guide player development, and support positive team culture.
Managers: Handle team communication, assist with logistics, and help things run seamlessly on and off the field.
Scorers: Keep track of the game using our scoring apps — a vital job that helps with stats, results, and league requirements.
Time Commitment: Commitment varies between roles. Most involve attending weekly training and weekend games, with flexibility depending on the team and your availability. Even stepping in when you can makes a meaningful difference.
No Experience Needed: You don’t need to be a baseball expert. We’ll provide resources, support, and guidance — and you’ll be part of a welcoming community ready to help you learn.
Love being outdoors? Our grounds crew keeps our fields safe, playable, and looking great for every game. Tasks include mowing, line marking, infield work, equipment setup and pack-down, and general field upkeep.
Time commitment: Grounds work runs year-round, with busier periods during the season for game prep and post-game tidy-ups. Off-season focuses on maintenance projects. Help when you can — even an hour makes a big difference.
No experience needed: We’ll teach you everything you need to know. Our crew is supportive, knowledgeable, and happy to guide new volunteers. All equipment is provided.Ready to join our volunteer team? Getting involved is easier than you might think. Here's how to make it happen:
Volunteering at Pine Rivers Rapids isn't just about giving back – it's about becoming part of something bigger. Our volunteers consistently tell us about the friendships they've made, the skills they've developed, and the sense of purpose they've found in contributing to our club community.
Many of our current volunteers started without any baseball experience whatsoever. What they brought was enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn – and that's exactly what we're looking for in new volunteers.
Whether you can spare a few hours a month or want to become deeply involved in club operations, there's a volunteer role that's perfect for you. Come and discover why so many people choose to spend their spare time helping Pine Rivers Rapids Baseball Club thrive.
